• Mid-Term Reports were sent home today with each student. Please review.

 

• Lunch Menu change: tomorrow (Thursday), we will serve Breakfast for Lunch.

 

• The final PTO Fall Festival planning session is tomorrow at 6:30PM. The meeting will be at the corner of East Washington and Monroe Streets, near Cornerstone Center for the Arts, where our Fall Festival will be held this weekend.

 

• This Friday is a Casual Dress Day. We ask that each student bring one or more jars of peanut butter to donate to the Saint Lawrence Church Emergency Food Pantry.

 

• This Friday, September 15, is an early-release day. Children will be dismissed at 1:00 and can be picked up at that time. Any child not picked up by 1:15 will go to After-School Care, but they will not be charged a fee as long as they are picked up by 3:15. Any child not picked up by 3:15 will be charged. Once in After-School Care, students may stay until 5:30 (the regular end time for After-School Care).

 

• We need donations for Fall Festival. Each family may bring these items to school:

-one case of bottled water

-one case of Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, Sierra Mist, Mt. Dew, Dr. Pepper, Coke or Diet Coke

-a bag of candy (no chocolate, no peanuts)

-if you can loan us a large cooler, please bring it to school ASAP

 

• Baked goods (finger foods) can be dropped off at school starting tomorrow. Bring items already bagged in plastic sandwich/Ziploc bags, with 2-3 treats in each bag. Rice Krispie treats, brownies, cookies, and dessert bars are ideal. No items with icing that will melt if kept outside.

 

• Fall Festival setup will be Friday starting at 5:00PM. We will also do setup on Saturday morning, 8:00-11:00AM.

 

• Be there! Saturday (11AM-7PM) and Sunday (11AM-5PM) at the corner of East Washington and Monroe Streets. Enjoy the Old Washington Street Festival, too!

 

• We will not be in session on Monday, September 18 (Diocesan Teacher Day).

 

• We will begin our free after-school tutoring next week on Tuesday, September 19. Individual letters will be sent home today. Tutoring is designed to help students improve their reading and mathematics skills.

 

• Our first Skating Party of the year will be Tuesday, September 19, at Gibson’s Roller Skating Arena, 2610 South Mock Avenue (just a few blocks from school). The party starts at 6:00PM and ends at 8:00PM. All are welcome, children do not have to be current Saint Lawrence students to attend. Please review the email that I sent on September 9 that explains the details.

 

• Family Day is Monday, September 25,1:30-3:00PM. Plan to have as many family members as possible at the event, each student’s entire family is encouraged to participate. This includes parents, step-parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc.

 

Families are invited to meet the staff and hear presentations from each class about their Religion Fair project. Students have been hard at work creating these displays, and are hopeful that their family members will come to see what they have made. There will be a musical performance where each class will perform.

 

The Most Reverend Timothy L. Doherty, Bishop of our Diocese, will be here to see our student’s Religion Fair displays and lead us in prayer.

 

• Our Scholastic Book Fair will start on Monday, September 25 (same day as Family Day). The fair will be open September 25-28. Check out the great deals on new books and educational items! For every item you purchase, our school gets Scholastic Points which we use to buy new educational items for our Media Center. This is an important fundraiser for us! There will be only one Book Fair this school year, so stock up on items for Christmas gifts.

 

• We will be taking an all-school trip to Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo on Thursday, October 5. We will be chartering a bus, so parent drivers will not be necessary. This trip is being financed by a generous donor from Saint Lawrence Parish. Questions about the trip can be directed to Miss Smith.

 

• On Wednesday, October 4, Mr. Frey will host an Indiana Tax Credit Scholarship Information Session at Saint Agnes Hall (301 South Hackley). This will explain how donations to this program can benefit our students, as well as result in a major tax credit for donors. If you or someone you know would like to attend, please RSVP with Mrs. Waechter at waechter@stlawrencemuncie.orgby Monday, October 2.

 

• Grey jackets and uniforms are being distributed this week. Some of the polo shirts were backordered, we’ll get those distributed soon. All of the grey jackets came in.

 

• Chad Davis, father of a former Saint Lawrence student, has coached our Boys’ Basketball team for several years. He is willing to coach again this year, but he is also willing to step aside if someone else wants to take over. If you are interested, please let Mr. Frey know. The position needs to be filled by October 1.

 

• We are running short on parent drivers on Mass days. If you can bring your child to school after Mass, please consider staying for Mass and driving them to school. The Mass is generally over around 8:40AM.

 

• Adults who wish to volunteer in school or drive on Field Trips need to complete Safe and Sacred training. Questions about this can be directed to Mrs. Waechter.

 

• Parents should keep track of the days in which lunch was ordered. Please do not pack a lunch and order a lunch on the same day, a lot of food is being wasted.
