The next Parent-Teacher Organization (P.T.O.) meeting is today (not tomorrow). Meetings are held at school, from 6:30PM until 7:30PM.
This Friday is a Casual Dress Day. We ask that each student bring at least one 12-pack of Ramen Noodles to school to donate to the Saint Lawrence Church Emergency Food Pantry.
This Friday is our annual Shadow Day at Pope John Paul II Middle School. Our grade 5 students will be dropped off at the Saint Mary campus by parents at 8:00AM and be picked up by parents at 3:15PM. Fifth graders may wear their PE shirts, grey jackets, and jeans. Any color shoes and socks are okay. All students ordered and paid for a lunch, so nobody will need to pack a lunch.
This Friday, November 17, is an early-release day. Children will be dismissed at 1:00PM and can be picked up at that time (except grade 5 students, who will be at Pope John Paul II until 3:15PM). Any child not picked up by 1:15 will go to After-School Care, but they will not be charged a fee as long as they are picked up by 3:15. Any child not picked up by 3:15 will be charged. Once in After-School Care, students may stay until 5:30 (the regular end time for After-School Care).
Due to Thanksgiving break, purple lunch order forms for the week of November 27-December 1 will go home with students on Friday, November 17. Forms will be due by Tuesday, November 21.
We will not be in session next week on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday due to Thanksgiving. School resumes on Monday, November 27.
Mass next week will be Tuesday, not Wednesday, due to Thanksgiving Break. Drop off children at Saint Lawrence Church between 7:30-7:50AM.
On Tuesday, November 28, SLCS will have a Hat Day. Students may wear a hat at school if they make a $2 donation to Camp Kesem. Camp Kesem is an annual week-long camp for children with cancer or whose parents are diagnosed with cancer.
Shop with Scrip Order Forms will be sent home on Monday, November 20. Please fill out this orange form and turn it in, with payment, to the office by Monday, December 4 at 10:00AM. Cards will be distributed around December 9. This is the last chance to buy Scrip before Christmas!
I would like to thank everyone who attended our Veterans Day Dinner on Friday. We raised nearly $1,000 for our grades 3, 4 and 5 classes!
At our recent hearing screening, no students were found to be in need of additional hearing testing. Grades K, 1 and 4 were tested.
We generally go out for recess every day, even on chilly days. Be sure to send your child to school with a hat and gloves.
In September, SLCS families were invited to complete a survey about the school’s overall effectiveness. For the results, see the email I sent out earlier today.
