• Saint Lawrence has once again earned an “A” rating from the Indiana Department of Education. We’ve now been an “A” school seven years in a row! I am especially proud of this because we minister to a student population with a wide range of abilities. This is a testament to our students, teachers, and parents.

• Next week is our annual Red Ribbon Campaign. A flyer with details was sent a few days ago. Please encourage your children to participate in the themed days:

Red Shirt Day: wear a red shirt to declare you are drug-free

Tuesday

Put a Lid on Drugs Day: wear a hat

Wednesday

Shade out Drugs Day: wear sunglasses (Still Mass Day & White Shirt Wednesday-no sunglasses at Mass)

Thursday

Don’t Get Tricked, Drugs are No Treat Day: wear orange clothes

Friday

Drug-Free Team Day: wear favorite sports team gear/jersey (Casual Day: jeans, sweats, etc. are okay)

• Next Friday, October 27, is a Casual Dress Day. We ask that each student bring at least three boxes/packs of spaghetti to school to donate to the Saint Lawrence Church Emergency Food Pantry. This is NOT an early dismissal day.

• Children who attend Mass at Saint Lawrence Church during the weekend of October 28-29 are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes to Mass.

• On Sunday, October 29, Saint Lawrence is hosting Trunk or Treat in the church parking lot (not at school) at 2:30PM. We need adults to volunteer their cars and candy. RSVP your car with Mrs. Waechter at [email protected], or call her at school. If you are willing to volunteer your trunk, arrive by 2:ooPM to set up your car. Children should bring a canned food item to participate. This event is sponsored by the new Saint Lawrence Church High School Youth Group.

• Quarter 1 grade reports will be handed out during Parent/Teacher Conferences on October 25-26. Please review your child’s grade report thoroughly and contact the teacher with questions or concerns.

• Parent/Teacher Conferences will be October 25 and 26. Watch for messages from your child’s teacher for more details. This is an important aspect of our school’s success – every child should have a parent or guardian present for the conference.

• There’s only one more week of “Socktober”! Socks should be brought to Miss Smith’s room. All students who donate socks will be entered into a drawing for prizes at the end of the month. Last day to donate socks is October 27.

• We are starting to see students wear sweatshirts to school on cooler days. Please remember that only the Saint Lawrence grey jackets should be worn during the school day (or the old green zip-up fleece for the rest of this school year). We have several youth-sized jackets in-stock and available for purchase in the office.
